A KIND-HEARTED woman is having her hair chopped off to raise money for a homeless charity.
Michelle Lomax-Hargreaves of Gordon Street, Leigh, will have her head shaved on bank holiday Monday, May 1 at Bradshawgate at 12pm to generate funds for Homeless Support Project which is based at Railway Road.
The charity provide essential goods to homeless, needy and destitute people such as food, drink, clothes, sleeping bags and tents as well as providing shower facilities and giving support and advice when required.
Michelle, 48, has set up a Go Fund Me page for the homeless charity, and along with sponsorship forms, she has already raised more than £300.
She said: “I have never done anything like this before and quite a few people have said I am brave but I am not worried because it is for such a good cause and I know how important donations are to the charity's survival.
“I have been thinking about doing this for six months after seeing how much work the charity does for homeless people through their social media coverage.
“I do not think the homeless get enough help so I wanted to do something to support an organisation which gives so much assistance to them."
Representatives from the Homeless Support Project will be joining Michelle and her friends on the day to support her and has arranged for a hairdresser from Studio 99 on Railway Road to carry out the task.
Michelle also added she will be accepting donations during the event.
