TWO women have organised a sky dive to raise money for a boy who has cerebral palsy and is suffering from leukaemia.

Friends Loraine Warburton and Pat Marron, both from Leigh, are jumping out of a plane at 9.30am on Sunday, May 7 at Skydive Northwest in Grange-over-Sands in an effort to generate more than £2,000 for 11-year-old Ben Robinson who has a dream to go on holiday with his family in Jamaica.

A charitable fund called Ben’s Wish was set up by Leigh Centurions star Dayne Weston after meeting the Newton Westpark Primary School pupil when he was a mascot at a match last year.

Loraine and Pat, both 60, have been friends for 54 years.

Grandmother-of-six Loraine, said: “We have done some crazy things together but this has got to be top of the list.

“I have never done anything like this before so I am sure we will both be nervous on the day.

“Pat is less scared of heights than me but the fact that Ben will be there with friends and family will give me the courage we need to do the challenge.

“I have known Ben's family for years and he is a little star and such an inspiration to us all.

“We have had so many donations from friends and local businesses which shows how popular he is.”

The pair have also had jumpers printed for free by Nicola Bretherton from Leigh-based Stitch-Rite to wear on the day.

Loraine and mum-of-one Pat have set up a Justgiving page and will be accepting donations at the event.
