A NEW sports council mosaic logo designed by primary school pupils has been unveiled.

Atherton and Tyldesley Sports Association (ATSA) Sports Council displayed their new logo at The Pelican Centre in Tyldesley on Monday after pupils from 16 schools worked on the design at St George’s Central C of E School in March with artist Stephen Charnock.

The logo was originally created in 2013 by Tyldesley Primary School pupil Max Coleman and St Michael’s C of E Primary School student Madison Lee who now both attend Fred Longworth High School.

The project was paid for by Wigan Council’s Brighter Borough initiative and the unveiling was attended by cabinet member Joanne Platt.

Artist Stephen said: “This project was quite different in that it involved children from so many different schools coming together to create one piece of artwork.

“The children were very enthusiastic and happy to get stuck in with being creative.”
