A MAN has been jailed for six weeks after assaulting a woman and persistently breaching a restraining order.
Michael Unsworth, of Maple Crescent, Leigh, admitted the attack on May 6 when he appeared before Wigan and Leigh Magistrates' Court on Monday.
As well as being jailed the 44-year-old was ordered to pay a £115 victim surcharge.
Craig and Paul Hilton, of no fixed abode, were given 38-day prison sentences suspended for a year after admitting a charge of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause a man to believe immediate unlawful violence would be used against him.
The court considered the offences in Leigh on January 1 to be particularly serious because 'group action' resulted in the victim sustaining a broken foot.
On top of their suspended prison sentences Craig Hilton, 37, and Paul Hilton, 35, were both ordered to adhere to a rehabilitation activity requirement and a restraining order and pay £200 compensation and a £115 victim surcharge.
Robert Russell, of Hindsford Bridge Mews, Leigh, was ordered to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work after admitting assaulting a woman and damaging a television to the value of £300 in the town on March 4.
The 38-year-old also has to adhere to a rehabilitation activity requirement and a restraining order and pay £800 compensation, an £85 victim surcharge and £160 court costs.
