A MAN has been ordered to pay £1,000 compensation for causing £4,500 damage to a floor, wall and ceiling at The Spinney mental health hospital in Atherton between December 27 and 29.

Christopher Kenyon, of Everest Road, Atherton, admitted the criminal damage charge when he appeared before Wigan and Leigh Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

The 30-year-old was discharged conditionally for 12 months.

Thomas Farrell, of Orchard Close, Leigh, was committed to Bolton Crown Court for sentencing on June 21.

The 22-year-old appeared at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates’ Court accused of driving dangerously on December 22 without a licence or insurance while under the influence of benzoylecgonine.

Benzoylecgonine is the compound tested for in most substantive cocaine urinalyses.

Farrell was also accused of being caught in possession of cannabis.

Wayne McMahon, 32, of Ellesmere Street, Leigh, was discharged conditionally for two years and ordered to pay £120 compensation after causing damage to that value to a door and fire extinguisher belonging to Riverside housing association in the town.

Johnathan Naughton, of Ward Street, Hindley, was discharged conditionally for six months and ordered to pay a £20 victim surcharge after failing to comply with the notification requirements as an offender within the terms of section 80 of the Sexual Offences Act.

The 48-year-old admitted not notifying the police of a change of address.

Chantal Watson, of Granville Street, Hindley, was fined £300 and ordered to pay a £35 victim surcharge and £85 court costs after admitting drink driving in the town on May 6 while not having a licence or insurance.

The 24-year-old was banned from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 22 months.

Andrew Anderson, of Fallowbrook, Pennington, also pleaded guilty to drink driving.

The 39-year-old was ordered to carry out 300 hours of unpaid work and pay an £85 victim surcharge and £85 court costs for committing the offence in Leigh on May 9.

Anderson was also banned from banned from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 29 months.
