SCHOOLCHILDREN showed off their sporting prowess in a trio of events.
The Atherton and Tyldesley Sports Association (ATSA) held a tag rugby competition, a golf taster session and a rounders festival in the space of seven days this month.
More than 80 children from 11 primary schools took part in the tag rugby competition at the Meadowbank Primary School and Children’s Centre in Atherton last Thursday, May 18.
Sponsored by Leigh Community Trust, the event was won by St George’s Central CE Primary School, who defeated Hindsford Primary School in the final.
Leigh Centurions star Éloi Pélissier presented the trophy.
The rounders festival for year five and six pupils took place at the same venue on Thursday.
St Michael’s CE Primary School edged out Holy Family Catholic Primary School in the final.
Nine other primary schools took part.
The golf taster session was held at Boomers and Swingers driving range in Astley on Tuesday.
It was led by Nick Solki and involved four primary schools.
