CREATIVE writers are being invited to an open workshop as part of a new national initiative.

Leigh’s Paperback Writers will be holding the free session upstairs at The Coffee Stop on Railway Road from 10.30am to 12.30pm next Wednesday, which is the inaugural National Writing Day.

Anyone who fancies having a go at creative writing, talking to other writers or just finding out what it involves is invited to go along and take part in some simple, fun exercises.

National Writing Day has been set up by the First Story charity in collaboration with arts and literacy organisations in a bid to get more people, particularly youngsters, unleashing their imagination and putting pen to paper.

For more information about the workshop, which is unsuitable for people with mobility issues due to its location above a flight of stairs, e-mail Julie at juleswriter@hotmail.com.
