A HOUSING development marked National Picnic Day by treated primary school children to a teddy bears’ picnic.

Leigh St Peter’s CE Primary School pupils ate their lunch in the show home of Taylor Wimpey’s Pennington Wharf development in the town and took part in colouring competition with prizes and goodie bags up for grabs.

Head teacher Wendy Cathie said: “This was such a lovely event and we would like to thank Taylor Wimpey for organising it for the children.

“The team really thought about how to make the day something to remember for the children and everyone left with a smile on their face and a goodie bag in their hand.”

Chloe Dunn, sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey Manchester, said: “We like to think outside the box when building in communities, whether that is throwing a teddy bears’ picnic for children or supporting local charities and organisations.

“It is all about giving a little back for us.

“We are delighted that the children and their teddies enjoyed the picnic and hope to work with Leigh St Peter’s CE Primary School again in the future.”
