A TWENTY-four-year-old faces a crown court trial accused of sexually assaulting a woman.

Jake Morris, of no fixed abode, appeared before Wigan and Leigh Magistrates’ Court on Friday having been charged with intentionally touching the woman in a sexual manner when she did not consent and there were not grounds to believe she was consenting.

The case was passed on to Bolton Crown Court, where the trial is set to start on Wednesday.

Tina Macdonald, 40, and Cornelius Shaw, 53, were given community orders and fines of £750 each after admitting causing £1,500 damage to a towing caravan in Leigh in September.

Macdonald, of Lindow Street, Leigh, was ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work.

Shaw, of Findlay Street, Leigh, has to adhere to a 10-week curfew order with electronic monitoring.

Jordan Newton, of Sherriffs Drive, Tyldesley, was fined £335 and ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £33 victim surcharge after admitting failing to give his name and address following a crash on Christmas Eve.

The 23-year-old was involved in a collision with another car on Wigan Road in Atherton.

After not giving his contact details at the scene he failed to report to incident to police within 24 hours.

As well as having to pay £453 Newton had his driving record endorsed with five points.
