A MAN has admitted three counts of making indecent movies of a child.

Peter Collins, of Rosevale Close, Hindley, pleaded guilty to making the movies in 2015 when he appeared before Wigan and Leigh Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

There were 15 category A movies, 13 category B movies and one category C movie.

Category A movies and images are the most severe type.

Collins also admitted being caught in possession of a prohibited image of a child.

He was committed to Bolton Crown Court for sentencing.

The 58-year-old is due to be sentenced there on August 14.

Andrew Green, of Howe Bridge Close, Atherton, faces a trial at Bolton Crown Court accused of raping a woman.

The 44-year-old is alleged to have committing sexual offences on July 16 and 17, 2016.

His trial is due to start on August 14.

David Smith, of Bridge Street, Hindley, was found guilty of three counts of assaulting a woman and causing £100 worth of criminal damage.

The 51-year-old was also convicted of two counts of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to cause another person harassment, alarm or distress.

He pleaded not guilty to all of the offences, which were committed between October 11 and January 17.

The case was adjourned for a pre-sentence report to be prepared.

Smith is set to return to Wigan and Leigh Magistrates’ Court for sentencing on August 1.

Daniel Ward, of Atherton Road, Hindley Green, was found guilty of assaulting a male in Wigan on May 17, a court no-show on June 7 having been released on bail and driving without due care and attention while using a hand-held mobile phone on March 25.

The 26-year-old was ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work and adhere to a rehabilitation activity requirement.

He also has to pay £100 compensation, an £85 victim surcharge and £85 court costs and had his driving record endorsed with seven points.

A woman from Leigh, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was given an eight-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months for persistently failing to send her child to school and co-operate with authorities.

She was ordered to carry out 50 hours of unpaid work, adhere to a rehabilitation activity requirement and pay a £115 victim surcharge and £100 court costs.
