TEAM Leigh boxer Kyle Parr has been selected to represent England in the upcoming European Championships to be held in Valcea, Romania.

Fourteen-year-old Parr, who attends Westleigh High School, will be boxing at 72kg, the same weight as he won his third National Title in June.

Parr has been attending England Training Camps in Sheffield and Tamworth, and was also joined at these sessions by club mates Will Hewitt, Harvey Ashcroft, Paddy Hewitt and Wez Holding.

Team Leigh Boxing took a squad of nine young boxers to Dublin, Ireland for the Monkstown International Box Cup, which features boxers from around the world including India, Hungary, USA, Mongolia, Sweden, Denmark alongside the UK and Ireland.

There were many cracking performances which eventually saw Gold medals for Kyle Parr and Naz Brown alongside Silver medals for Harvey Ashcroft and Will Hewitt.

Harvey Ashcroft was selected as Team Leigh Boxer of the Tournament for three blistering bouts in three days.

The full squad was Paddy Hewitt (captain), Will Hewitt, Kyle Parr, David Banks, Harvey Ashcroft, Naz Brown, Haaris Brown, Wez Holding and Dylan Jackson.

The final Team Leigh Boxing Show of the season was held at Lowton Civic Hall in front of a sell-out crowd, and saw all Leigh boxers produce cracking performances.

Overall Boxer of the Night was Paddy Hewitt, while Senior Boxer of the Night was Ben Grimshaw and Junior Boxer of the Night went to Joe Young.

Reece Dawber was awarded the Lamotta Boxer of the Night. Special mention too for home debutants Zak Adams, Josh Hopkins and Ryan Taylor.
