A MAN has been jailed for 26 weeks after admitting stealing an £800 television and failing to adhere to restraining and notification orders.

David Skuse, of Carlyle Grove, Leigh, stole the LG TV in the town on October 25 and breached a restraining order imposed on him with Facebook messages he sent five days later.

The 44-year-old also admitted failing to comply with notification requirements of an order imposed as a relevant offender within sections of the Sexual Offences Act 2003 between July 11 and 14.

Wigan and Leigh Magistrates’ Court deemed the offences to be particularly serious as they were committed while Skuse was serving a suspended prison sentence.

As well as jailing him on Monday the bench ordered Skuse to pay £50 compensation.

Adam King, of Chaucer Grove, Atherton, was imprisoned for three weeks after admitting committing five shoplifting offences in the.

The 31-year-old stole a total of £108 worth of lager from Asda and hanging baskets and plants from Tesco worth a combined total of £39.

The offences were committed between April 18 and June 8.

Magistrates took into account King’s previous record of theft offences when jailing him.

He was also ordered to pay £123 compensation.
