A MAN has been jailed for 16 months after admitting assaulting a woman with multiple blows, including kicking her while she was on the floor.

Brendan Coleman, of Sussex Close, Hindley, also pleaded guilty to a charge of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour towards another male on the same day, June 27.

The 33-year-old appeared before Wigan and Leigh Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

As well as being handed a custodial sentence Coleman was ordered to pay £250 compensation and a £115 victim surcharge.

Christopher England, of Oxford Street, Leigh, admitted threatening to kill a woman and sending a series of messages threatening to assault a man last month.

The 30-year-old also pleaded guilty to causing £180 worth of damage to a kitchen window.

The case was adjourned for a pre-sentence report to be prepared.

England is set to be sentenced at the court on August 8.

The 32-year-old is set to be tried at Bolton Crown Court on August 21.

Emma Worsley, of Derby Road, Golborne, was ordered to carry out 250 hours of unpaid work after admitting assaulting a female on March 19.

The 35-year-old also has to pay £300 court costs, £200 compensation and an £85 victim surcharge.
