THERE is no shortage of five-star takeaways in the borough, according to the latest Food Standard Agency inspections.
Four takeaway restaurants in Leigh have been given a five out of five Food Hygiene Rating over the past 12 months, Fat Boys, Higher Folds Chippy, Treats and Wigan Road Chippy.
Al-Capone, Alison’s Restaurant, Indian Spice and It’s Pizza matched that feat in Hindley.
Manhattan Pizza Shop in Atherton, Lucky House in Tyldesley and Church Street Chippy in Golborne also achieved five-star ratings.
Oriental Express in Leigh and Bella Pizza in Tyldesley both scored the lowest possible rating of zero.
As well as the 11 takeaways in Leigh, Atherton, Tyldesley, Hindley, Lowton and Golborne receiving five-star reviews and the two with zero stars, 12 achieved four stars, 18 gained three stars, seven were given two stars and 18 received one star.
The hygiene ratings awarded by the FSA are based on food handling, the cleanliness of the facilities and the building and the management of food safety.
