A MAN faces a crown court trial accused of 12 counts of seriously sexually assaulting a child.

Kyle Yates, of Atherton Road, Hindley, allegedly abused the child between January 2013 and January 2015.

The 18-year-old appeared at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

His trial at Bolton Crown Court is set to start on October 18.

Gary Collier, of Linden Avenue, Atherton, is also set to be tried at the court on that date.

The 46-year-old is accused of three counts of indecently assaulting a child between September 1984 and September 1985.

Craig Marsh, of Wigan Road, Hindley, and Lisa Lee, of College Street, Leigh, are also set to be tried at Bolton Crown Court on October 18.

Marsh, 34, is accused of wounding a female with intent to cause her grievous bodily harm and assaulting a male.

The offences were allegedly committed in Hindley on July 29.

Lee, 35, is accused of deliberately setting fire to a flat at Cranleigh Court Care Centre in Atherton and causing £45,000 worth of damage on June 22.

Dean Clementson, of Stanley Street, Atherton, was jailed for six months after admitting trashing a room and stealing electric goods worth £155 from Little Rainbows 2 Nursery as a trespasser on July 4.

Magistrates handed the 25-year-old a custodial sentence as he is a prolific offender with a history of dishonesty.

Clementson was also ordered to pay a £115 victim surcharge.

Derek Wells, of Chatburn Avenue, Golborne, was given an eighty-week curfew order with electronic monitoring after admitting taking a car without the owner’s consent on August 31, drink driving in it in Lowton and causing £5,000 worth of damage to the vehicle.

The 30-year-old also pleaded guilty to driving the car without a licence or insurance.

Wells was ordered to adhere to alcohol treatment and rehabilitation activity requirements and pay an £85 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.

He was also banned from driving for 18 months.

Connor Brown, of Legh Street, Golborne, admitted driving without due care and attention in Wigan on July 22.

The 19-year-old also pleaded guilty to driving a car without a licence, insurance or MOT.

He was fined £320 and ordered to pay a £32 victim surcharge and £85 court costs and had his driving record endorsed with eight points.

Adam Battersby, of Elliot Drive, Hindley, admitted driving dangerously in Wigan on September 9 and failing to stop the car when told to do so by police.

The 28-year-old will be sentenced at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

The case was adjourned for a pre-sentence report to be prepared.

Sean Taylor, from Newton-le-Willows, was fined £80 and ordered to pay £50 compensation, a £30 victim surcharge and £85 court costs after admitting assaulting a female in Leigh on August 21.

Warrants were issued for the arrests of Tyler Roberts, of Gordon Street, Leigh, and Ashleigh Tolley, of Henrietta Street, after they failed to turn up in court in answer to bail.

Roberts, 24, is accused of taking a car without the owner’s consent and driving it while under the influence of drugs including cocaine and without a licence or insurance in May.

He was also allegedly caught in possession of cannabis and a folding pocket knife with a blade longer than three inches in a public place.

Tolley, 26, is accused of stealing tooth whitening kits worth £60 from Boots in Leigh on August 3.
