LEIGH Miners Rangers had four youth teams in cup final action at the weekend and although only the under-15s emerged victorious all the sides involved featured in competitive and close-fought games which could have gone either way.

The under-15s played in atrocious conditions against Latchford but thoroughly deserved their success whilst the under-13s were pipped in the very final minutes of the match as they lost out.

The under-12s battled hard against a Rylands side who are utterly dominant at this age group and despite rallying to be back on terms going into the later stages the youngsters just missed out as the Warrington side snatched the win.

The under-18s opened up a 10-0 lead inside the first quarter with tries from Matthew Gallagher and Rob Crompton but Thatto Heath were firmly back in contention by the break and the Crusaders took control in the second half to win 28-10.

The women’s team meanwhile saw their season ended by unbeaten Stanningley in the penultimate hurdle of the play-offs.

The club’s presentation night takes place on 3 November.
