VOTERS will go to the polls on Thursday as a by-election takes place for the council seat left vacant by Jo Platt’s resignation as a councillor in September.
Constituents in Astley and Mosley Common will be able to register their vote from 7am to 10pm with five candidates vying for the position.

Votes will be counted at Leigh Town Hall, with the winner announced around 10.15pm.
Polling stations will be set up at St Stephen's Church, Astley, Astley Scouts and Guides HQ, St Ambrose Barlow Parish Hall, Astley, and St John`s Mosley Common CE Junior and Infants School, Worsley.
