A MAN has been ordered to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work after committing six offences on the same day.

Declan Walls, of Atherton Road, Hindley Green, was caught in possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, a knuckle duster, as well as a quantity of cannabis.

The 20-year-old also drove without due care and attention or insurance while under the influence of a drug – he had 5.1 micrograms per litre of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, the primary psychoactive ingredient in cannabis, in his blood – and failed to stop when ordered to do so by police.

Walls admitted all the offences, which were committed in Higher Ince on July 24.

He appeared at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

On top of the community service Walls was banned from driving for 12 months and ordered to pay an £85 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.

The 36-year-old also has to pay £500 compensation.

Marian Burueana, of Orchard Lane, Leigh, Samuel Lowe, of Westhead Avenue, Lowton, and Robert Parry, of Market Street, Hindley, all admitted drink driving offences.

Rachel Philpott, from Bolton, was found guilty of drink driving and failing to stop after being involved in an accident in which damage was caused to the central reservation of the East Lancashire Road in Leigh on July 12.

The 33-year-old denied the charges and failing to report the accident to police but admitted driving without due care and attention.

Philpott is set to return to the court for sentencing on Monday, October 30.

The case was adjourned for a pre-sentence report to be prepared.
