POLICE are urging motorists to send them dashcam footage after a hit-and-run on Wednesday night which left a cyclist with serious injuries.

As reported by the Journal yesterday, a 48-year-old man was taken to hospital with major facial injuries and multiple body fractures after being hit from behind by a car when he was on his road bike at around 10.30pm on Warrington Road in Golborne.

The driver failed to stop and headed in the direction of the A580 East Lancashire Road. So far no description of the car or driver provided to Greater Manchester Police (GMP) meaning dash cam footage could provide crucial lines of enquiry.

Police Constable Jonathan McColl of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “To leave a man in the road with serious injuries and then flee the scene is disgraceful.

“Unfortunately we do not have a description of the car but I would appeal to anyone who was driving in the area and has dash-cam footage to come forward.”

Police are also appealing for any witnesses to contact them."
