FIREFIGHTERS will be holding a car wash on Sunday to support colleagues who have endured tough times.
Around 15 crew members at Leigh Fire Station on St Helens Road will be welcoming vehicles into the premises from 11am to 3pm in return for donations to The Firefighters Charity.
The charity supports firefighters who have been injured, ill or psychologically affected in their work as well as their families.
Watch manager of the technical response unit Alex Sugden, 42, said: “It is such an important charity as it does a great job in helping firefighters who risk their lives for the community.
“It is not just about raising money – it gives us a chance to meet people in the area which we enjoy doing.”
The station do the charity car wash twice a year and raised around £500 in March with a similar target this time around.
