CHRISTMAS has come early this year for a weight loss group.

Slimming World groups in Leigh, Lowton and Golborne held festive celebrations, complete with decorations and healthy food recipes, in October.

The event took place ahead of of a three-month mission for slimmers to lose weight in time for Christmas and the New Year.

It is part of a Slimming World UK and Ireland initiative to benefit its 16,000 groups and 900,000 members.

The 12-week campaign will include members sharing recipes, advice and ideas for overcoming challenges during the party season.

Consultant Claire Mountford said: “Christmas is a magical time of year and the weeks running up to it are often full of fun celebrations.

“If you are feeling unhappy with your weight though it can also be a very challenging time – from hating the way you look in every party outfit to feeling uncomfortable and out of place at events.

“And if you have already embarked on your journey, you might worry that the busy run-up to Christmas, temptations of the next few months, and the cold weather that often means we are less inclined to be active.

“It could derail your weight-loss campaign and you will end up reaching January struggling even more with your weight.

“However, we know that by sharing ideas and keeping each other motivated every week in our groups, members can stay on track and achieve their goals.

“Members won’t have to miss out on the magic of the season either."
