YOU would think after running with a host of celebrities, George Mathias would be used to meeting famous folks by now.
But he took it to another level on Monday when he was congratulated on being a Pride of Britain winner by Prince William – and presented with an award by X Factor judges .
It was quite a night for the 11-year-old from Eccleston, who was awarded Good Morning Britain’s Young Fundraiser gong.
George, as reported by the Star, has covered 99-miles with celebrities to amass more than £35,000 for Alder Hey Children’s Hospital as a thank you for saving his brother James’ life.
His dad Richard said: “George has said that it was the best night of his life. It was amazing – especially after Lord Sugar insisted he run around the place to raise more money – which was his 100th mile. We think he’s raised more than £13,000 as Duncan Bannatyne gave him £10,000.
“To see my two boys from St Helens accept that award was emotional, we couldn’t be prouder. George wants to keep running – he has a load more celebrities who want to run with him.”
