A KIND-hearted Tyldesley schoolboy has used money he received from his ninth birthday to generate funds for the Poppy Appeal.
Garrett Hall Primary School pupil Lewis Westwell bought toffee and chocolate apples to sell to his friends on Friday to raise more than £80 for the campaign which supports the British Armed Forces.
His teacher Miss Makin said: “It was such a thoughtful thing to do and everyone at the school is so proud of Lewis.
“He is always doing things like this including donating Christmas selection boxes to Atherton and Leigh Footbank last year.
“He also donated the money he spent on the apples to the appeal as well.”
His friends at the Garrett Lane school, Jack Chapman and Sam Barlow, helped him to sell the treats.
