A PETITION to improve accessibility at a railway station has been launched.
It has called for Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) to have all services passing through the Atherton line to stop at Hag Fold railway station.
The petition, which will be sent to Greater Manchester Mayor and former Leigh MP Andy Burnham, will also ask for the land at the rear of the northbound station to Manchester, which is owned by Wigan Council, to be developed into a car park.
It has been launched by Norman Bradbury, chair of The Bridge at Dorset Road Community Centre, which is 100 yards from the station.
He said: “The increased services from Hag Fold railway station would help residents commute to Manchester and Wigan and take up job opportunities.”
The petition was also signed by Bolton West MP Chris Green on Friday.
Residents will be able to sign it at the Dorset Road Community Centre as well as other businesses in Atherton town centre.
