A MUM-of-three and her nine-year-old daughter with autism are sacrificing their locks in aid of Willowbrook Hospice.

Kelley Garth, from Newton-le-Willows, is having her head shaved to repay the hospice on Portico Lane in Prescot for the high level of care given to her mother-in-law Patricia McCulloch, who spent six weeks there before she died in January.

Kelly’s daughter Jessica also wanted to sacrifice all her hair to raise money for the hospice.

But her mum insisted that, due to her age, Jessica can only have her waist-long hair cut to chin length.

Kelley, 43 said: “The care that Willowbrook gave to my 69-year-old mother-in-law was amazing.

“The staff treated us like family and would do anything to help us. They even helped us bring Christmas forward and made it special for my daughters as well as for Patricia.

“The hospice only gets a percentage of its running costs from the Government and the staff deserve more credit for the work they do and the extra mile they go to, so I hope to raise as much as I can for them through my JustGiving page set up for the fundraiser.

“My daughter wanted to get involved and after convincing her to not get her head shaved but to have a short bob instead we have decided to send her hair to the Little Princess Trust, which makes wigs for children who have lost their hair due to illness.

“I am really proud of Jessica and we are both really excited.”

The pair will be getting the chop at the Pure salon in Earlestown at 3.30pm on Saturday.
