A SPATE of crimes have been reported in Hindley over the past nine days.
The theft of a charity box at Hindley Community Pool last Tuesday was the first one to be reported to police.
Money has since been stolen from the tills at Hindley Embroidery and Print on Market Street and Borsdane Avenue Pharmacy following break-ins.
There have also been 20 coping stones stolen from a wall of a property in Lord Street and thieves tried to break into the Asda supermarket using a circular store.
Police are also looking for two men they say tried to sell boxed knives at Tesco Extra on Cross Street.
They believe the same men have been knocking on doors of elderly people's homes in the Borsdane area of Hindley and making false claims about paying for their household items.
Police suspect they are travelling in a small white van and say one of the men has a strong Irish accent.
Anyone with information about any of the incidents should call police on 101.
