A FAMILY is celebrating after a new arrival has extended it to five generations.
After the birth of baby Josie Mercer on November 10, the most senior member of the Leigh family is great great grandmother Olive Barker who is aged 90.
She has a combined total of more than 20 grandchildren and great grandchildren.
One of her granddaughters, clinical support worker Janette Smith, said: "All the family are really pleased with the arrival of the new baby and she is doing fine.
"To have five generations is quite remarkable and I am sure will will share many good times together in the future."
The family also celebrated Olive's landmark birthday in March at one of her favourite venues, Leigh Labour Club on Abbey Street.
