Here's 8 races and obstacle challenges in 2018 to inspire you to get moving this year.
1. Tough Mudder
More than 20 obstacles over a muddy 10-mile course.
When: September 8 and 9, 2018
Where: Cholmondeley Castle, Cholmondeley, Malpas, Cheshire, SY14 8HA

2. English Half Marathon
Get your party hats out as the race marks 10 years in 2018.
It will once again finish at the Golden Gates with a 10K option also available or a 5K night run on September 14.
When: September 16, 2018

3. Rough Runner
This obstacle course challenge combines distance running with a variety of obstacles each inspired by game shows such as Total Wipeout, Takeshi’s Castle, Gladiators, and Fun House.
Expect a 40m slide, giant pigeon battles, sweeper arms, big balls before finishing on The Travelator from Gladiators.
When: June 16 and 17, 2018
Where: Arley Hall, Northwich, Cheshire, CW9 6NA
Cost: Prices vary depending on Saturday or Sunday entry, the course distance (5k, 10k or 15k) and whether you're entering as an individual or team ranging from £34 to £50.

4. Glow in the Park
Described as the 'perfect combination of work-out and night-out', Glow In The Park is a night time neon 5km fun event.
The course covers six glow zones including the Foam Zone, UV Paint Blast Zone and Time Tunnel and entry packs include a headband and UV face paint.
When: October 26, 2018

5. Gung-Ho
The world's largest inflatable obstacle finishes with Europe’s biggest ever inflatable slide. Entry for the 5k event includes a T-shirt and headband.
When: June 23, 2018
Where: Chester Racecourse

6. Gauntlet Games
This obstacle course race sees Gladiators challenge you around the course which includes a bouncing belly slide, water zone and inflatable zone before finishing on a huge rope swing onto an air bag.
When: September 15

Cost: Prices range from £32.47 to £53.05

7. Tatton 10k
If you want a fitness challenge as soon as possible, this might be the one for you with the course taking in the roads inside the park and finishing within the park's grounds. But be quick as it's limited to 500 entries.
When: January 14, 2018
Where: Tatton Park, Cheshire
Cost: £18
8. The Night Runner
Fancy dress is actively encouraged with this one and the theme for Delamere is 'Spooky Halloween'.
The trail running course will be marked with reflective signs so all you need is a heard torch to light your path and some 'grippy' shoes to deal with the mud.
When: October 2018
Where: Delamere Forest, Cheshire, CW8 2HZ
