WILDLIFE fans are invited to annual presentation and a trip to a birdwatching hotspot.

Leigh Ornithological Society (LOS) will be hosting its sixth Ken and Jean Gallimore memorial meeting at Chowbent Unitarian Chapel on Alder Fold Street, off Bolton Old Road in Atherton on Friday, January 5 at 7.30pm.

It will be presented by Pauline and Ian Mellor-Greenhalgh and will include snaps of birds, mammals, fungi, insects, flowers and landscapes.

The slideshow will be supplemented by stories on how the images were obtained.

Entry for the event free of charge but a small donation from non-members would be gratefully accepted.

People wishing to attend are asked to arrive at the chapel at 7.15pm with the presentation likely to finish around 9.15pm.

A trip to the Morecambe Bay area and Leighton Moss RSPB reserve has been scheduled for Sunday, January 14 with people asked to meet at Doctor Nook Car Park, opposite Leigh Library, around 8am.

Anyone wishing to attend have been asked to come prepared for wet and cold weather and bring enough food and hot drinks for the day.

Non-RSPB members will need to pay an entry charge for the visit and people without any experience of bird-watching are welcome to go on the trip.

Car sharing is also available.

To book a place on the trip, contact LOS secretary Angela Pike at leighos.secretary@gmail.com or contact 07816 178582.
