A NOSTALGIC history group in Leigh has been given support in helping them to relive their memories of the town.

MemorabLEIGH, who meet at Old Grammar School on Railway Road, have been given funding by Ambition for Ageing Wigan Borough via the Big Lottery Fund to purchase new equipment such as history books, DVDs and maps.

The group, which meet on Tuesdays from 1pm to 3pm, is aimed at people over the age of 50 who want to talk about their life in Leigh or history of the town.

On Tuesday, January 9, Bill Stowell be be reading extracts from his book, Far East from Westleigh, which includes information about his childhood, first job and national service.

Everyone is welcome to join the group which costs £4 per session which includes refreshments.
