A FAST food restaurant's policy to ban teenagers entering it without an adult has sparked a mixed reaction on social media.

Management at McDonald's on Bradshawgate in Leigh stop teenagers from going into the store with no supervision at times when they believe there may be a risk of anti-social behaviour.

There are no fixed times of when the ban is enforced.

People have took to social media to condemn the move as they believe the decision stereotypes all teenagers with causing anti-social behaviour, while others have welcomed the policy as it may improve the atmosphere and safety for customers if it is used appropriately.

A spokesman for McDonald’s said: “We do not have a company-wide policy which restricts teenagers coming in to our restaurants.

"There is no formal policy at the restaurant in Leigh, though on some occasions the manager will use their discretion to request that teenagers are accompanied by an adult.”

The spokesman also added restaurant staff do not ask customers to present ID to check their age.
