A TRIAL has been set for a Hindley man accused of murder after a man in his 50s died in a pub on Saturday night.
Craig Cropper, of Arundel Street, was present at Manchester Crown Court for a preliminary hearing in which a date of Monday, June 25 was set for him to appear at Liverpool Crown Court.
The 29-year-old also appeared at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates’ Court for a first hearing on Monday.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: "Shortly after 11.30pm on Saturday, January 20, police were called to a pub on Market Street to reports that a man had been assaulted.
"A man in his 50s was taken to hospital where he sadly died.
"A 27-year-old, who was arrested on suspicion of murder, has been released with no further action."
