RUNCORN Linnets made it 11 straight league wins with a 3-1 win at bottom-of-the-league Barnton on Friday.

But they did not have things all their own way.

Barnton took the lead on 20 minutes when Jack Woolley found the net with a 25-yard rip-roaring effort.

When Kris Holt was brought down just inside the penalty area Mike Simpson levelled things up from the spot.

Five minutes before the interval a second goal arrived for Linnets when Louis Corrigan bent a free-kick around the Barnton defensive wall from 22 yards.

With 15 minutes remaining, Linnets scored the decisive third goal they had been craving.

Kris Holt lifted the ball over Barnton’s defence to set Paul Shanley through on goal and he kept his cool to place his shot through the goalkeeper’s legs.

Linnets visit Northwich Victoria on Saturday.
