A FAMILY fun day will celebrate the unveiling of Leigh's outdoor market next Saturday, February 24.

Market traders will be on the new gazebos that will stretch along Bradshawgate from 10am to 2pm with a host of entertainment available on the day.

The free event will include live music, a competition to win £250 as well as other goodies, and a town crier spreading the word about the new market.

There will also be stilt walkers, jugglers, face painters and balloon modelling to amuse the younger generation.

Leigh Market Traders’ representative Glenn Furnival said: “We hope the people of Leigh and the surrounding areas will come to enjoy the entertainment, take in the atmosphere and see the new look Leigh town centre.

“Leigh Market and outdoor market is a friendly and lively place where people can buy a whole range of great products and tasty food.

“So come down on the day and support your local market and town centre.”

The funday also marks the completion of the regeneration of Bradshawgate and Albion Street which has had new paving, seating and trees installed over the last nine months.

The £1 million investment to carry out the work is part of Wigan Council's £5 million "Believe in Leigh" fund.
