DOGS in fancy dress outfits lined the Guided Busway yeaterday, Sunday, in aid of a kind-hearted woman who has terminal cancer.

Around 30 people adorned their pooches in a range of outfits on a four-mile journey from the Astley Street to Ellenbrook stops and back to raise funds to help pay for treatment for Vicky Sinar, of Glenview Road, Tyldesley, who has liver cancer which has spread to her spine.

Vicky, 46, joined the group at the start of the two-and-a-half hour walk at 2pm alongside her partner Steven Howlett and their two dogs Broc and Oscar.

Her best friend and godmother to both of her children, Helen Crompton, 34, said: “The day could not have gone any better.

“I was surprised at the amount of people that joined us and luckily the weather held up for us.”

A bucket collection raised more than £380 of donations for Vicky on the day.

A competition for the best fancy dress outfit for dogs on the day was won by boxer dog George, who was adorned with a bumble bee coat.

Steven was also joined on the walk by his colleagues from Atherton and Broughton Fire Watch.

He added: “We feel truly blessed with the support and love we have had.

“I would like to thank everyone who took part from the bottom of my heart.”
