A DAD-OF-ONE has spoken of his frustration about cars speeding past his house on a regular basis.

Craig Molyneaux lives on Hanover Street, in Leigh, which has a 20mph speed limit in place, but he claims drivers are regularly racing past at more than 35mph.

The 30-year-old said residents on other roads in the area with the same speed restrictions off Holden Road are experiencing this problem too.

Graphic designer Craig, who lives with his partner Lucy and son Jaymes, six, said: “The road is quite constant with cars driving past at a lot more than 20mph.

“Due to the parking restrictions on the street we have to cross the road to get to my car and it can be dangerous when there are people driving so fast.

“In the last year my son was nearly hit by a car and another time our cat was hit and my car has also been scraped too.

“Something needs to be done about it before someone gets seriously hurt.

“People would not drive like this on their own street so it is not acceptable to do it on ours.

“I have spoken to a lot of people on our road and they all agree that it can not go on like this.”

Craig is calling on road traffic measures to be introduced in the area to force drivers to stick to the speed limit.

He added: “I think it has got to the stage now where there needs to be a change on the road to make people who live here more safe.

“Maybe something like road indent markings would help solve the problem.

“I just want to raise awareness of this issue and try and get people who drive past my road and others in the area to slow down.”
