THE family of a student who has a neurological wasting disease and hip dysplasia have launched an appeal to help her have much-needed surgery.

Twenty-one-year-old Jazmine Allen was born with CMT and also has the added complications of hip dysplasia on both of her hips.

She had several major surgeries as a child to reconstruct her hips, but this only led to her condition becoming worse and gave her nerve damage in her hips and legs.

Despite her battles, Jazmine, from Lowton, has always been determined to finish her education, attending Leeds University to study New Media.

However, her worsening condition has seen her have to take time away from her studies and she has had to rely on friends to help with shopping and everyday tasks.

“All the time she’s trying to do her education and her hips are deteriorating,” said mum, KT.

“She has been trying to do her education. She’s got to the last year but she can’t get to the classes.

“We are doing this appeal to get the surgery done to get her mobile and get her last year of Uni finished.”

KT added: “I think she’s a good inspiration. She wants to inspire other people instead and other disabled people to go and better themselves.

“For Jazmine the message is more important, raising awareness and encouraging people to better their lives.”
