A HINDLEY bar has been closed after “a number of reported assaults” in recent weeks.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed the license holder at Jonesies Bar on Market Street has surrendered his license following a series of incidents when they have been called.

Wigan Council’s service manager for regulatory services, Julie Middlehurst, said: “We can confirm that the licence has been surrendered by the current licence holder.

"If we should receive a transfer application within 28 days, the licence could be re-instated.

“The transfer application process requires a 14 day consultation period, during which time we would consult with GMP and the Home Office to determine if they had any objections.”

The property will be closed until further notice.
