A VETERAN has won a garden centre’s annual photography competition.

Graham Young, a member of Leigh-based veteran’s charity Shoulder to Soldier, beat more than 100 entries to be crowned champion of Bents Garden and Home’s contest with his picture, Frosty Song Thrush.

Graham made a shortlist of 15 images which were displayed in the Glazebury store and on the shop’s Facebook page where customers could vote for their favourite snap.

All of the competition entries depict nature at its finest from landscape to wildlife shots.

The Warrington Road centre has awarded Graham the prizes of a framed copy of his photograph and £50 worth of Bents gift vouchers.

MD at Bents Garden and Home, Matthew Bent, said: “It is great to be able to support the talents of our customers and provide an opportunity for them to share their passion with others.

“As always, the quality of all entries was extremely high.

"I would like to give a big thank all our customers who took time to vote."

Earlier this year Bents donated a plot at its community allotment project to the charity and Graham’s vouchers will be used by the team working at the site.
