FILMING on a new street racing TV drama starring Sean Bean and Billy Zane is set to take place in the borough next week.
The East Lancashire Road between the junction of Newton Road in Lowton and the Atherleigh Way in Leigh will be closed for three nights from Monday where stunt driving and special effects will be carried out.
The show that will be filmed, called Curfew, is a near-future eight-part Sky One drama set over one long night.
Other stars involved in the series include Miranda Richardson and Robert Glenister.
It involves a virus turning people into deadly creatures and the only hope of escaping the society is to win a race.
A camera drone will be used to capture the fast-paced action of the vehicles involved in the scenes which will take place in several sequences.
There will also be a prop gun used in the filming which will be supervised by a fully qualified armourer and two Greater Manchester Police officers.
Closures will be in place each night from Monday to Wednesday from 8pm to 6am the following morning.
