NURSES at the borough's hospital trust have been recognised for their hard work.
Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Trust (WWL) nurses were given chocolates and cupcakes by members of the group Fighting for our NHS.
Children at Leigh Sacred Heart RC Primary School also made a poster to show their appreciation for the jobs they do on a daily basis.
It was presented to nurses on Leigh Infirmary's Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit (EPAU) on ward three by pupil Charlotte Thompson, who was recently given treatment for an injury she suffered.
Taz Mini Market on Westleigh Lane and Jayson Lomax-Hargreaves donated chocolates on the day as well.
The event was organised to mark International Nurses Day, which took place last Saturday.
