A POST office has been closed after the owner of the property has withdrawn from having the business' services available at its site.

The Warrington Road branch in Leigh has shut after a withdrawal of premises for Post Office use was issued by the owner, who the national delivery retailer was renting from.

The company say they are looking to open a new outlet in the area.

A Post Office spokesman said: “We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused following the withdrawal of premises for Post Office use.

"While we always work hard to maintain Post Office services, we are not the owner of the premises and regrettably, we are unable to re-open the branch at present.

“We understand how important a Post Office can be to a community and would like to reassure customers that we are working hard to restore services to them as soon as possible."

Retailers or small business owners interested in running a Post Office and incorporating it into their company are able to contact 0845 266 8790 for more information.
