CHILDREN at St Catherine of Siena Catholic Primary School in Lowton have been given a lesson in the art of bread making.
Year Five pupils at the Cranham Avenue school were visited by Roberts Bakery's Paul Graves who guided them through the different stages of the process.
This includes kneading and mixing the dough as well as shaping the loaves before they are baked.
Year Five teaching assistant at St Catherine’s Dawn Fairhurst said: “It was brilliant for the children to roll up their sleeves and make something to be proud of.
"It was really valuable for them to experience the sight, feel, smell and, of course taste, of something they had baked themselves.”
There were a total of 29 pupils that put on aprons to take part in the lesson.
Paul Graves has visited the school before to share his knowledge of bread making.
He added: "Our visit not only gave the children the confidence to take their baking skills home.
"It was also very worthwhile in educating them about how bread is manufactured, how it reaches our shelves and how it can contribute to a healthy lifestyle.”
