A TEENAGER has been arrested on suspicion of drug dealing and possessing an offensive weapon today, Friday.
Officers searched a 19-year-old man from Leigh on Southport Promenade and found a quantity of drugs.
Police believe the drugs are cocaine and heroin.
A quantity of cash and a long sharpened screw was also seized.
Community Policing Inspector Graham Fisher said: “These drugs have now been taken off our streets and can no longer be used to cause harm in our communities.
"These people who deal drugs, do not care about those they are dealing to and the impact they have on their lives and on the places they live.
“This stop search is just one example of how we work day in day out to rid our streets of the blight of drugs.
"While we continue to work to arrest those involved in drug supply in our communities, I would ask anyone with any information about drugs activity in their community to contact @MerPol CC on Twitter or dial 101.
"Information can also be given anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
