FIREFIGHTERS battled two big blazes in Leigh yesterday, Tuesday.
One crew from Atherton was sent to Green Lane at around 1.50pm where a fire broke out from a large quantity of grass in open land that grew to half a mile in length.
They were in attendance for around one hour-and-a-half.
At around 8.35pm, crews from Farnworth and Cheshire were called to extinguish a large blaze that started from a bin fire on Hill Street.
Firefighters tackled the flames before it spread to a nearby outbuilding.
They used an extension ladder, forcible entry tools, a hose reel and a thermal imaging camera in their efforts to put it out.
Crews were on the scene for three-and-a-half hours.
