A SCARECROW festival is inviting entries for this year's event.

The Mosley Common Scarecrow Festival 2018, which is in its third year, attracts hundreds of visitors to the village.

A provisional date of Sunday, July 29 has been set for this year's occasion with entries accepted until the closing date of Thursday.

Last year more than 30 scarecrows were on show in Mosley Common.

With a low number of entries so far this year, organisers are inviting people from neighbouring towns to display their own scarecrows.

A festival spokesman said. "We can only hope that by July 12 we have enough entries to put the festival on otherwise we will very reluctantly have to cancel and if this does happen it is most unlikely that we will be able to revive it in the future."
