A MUSIC festival has received rave reviews in its second year.

The Rock 'n' Stroll festival returned to Lilford Park in Leigh on Saturday where 10 bands entertained crowds from noon until late in the evening.

The free event, which is organised by community group Strike a Chord, was headlined by The Madchester Experience.

David DuBois, co-founder of Strike a Chord, is a drummer with his band Corporal Jones, who played on the day.

He said: "We are absolutely thrilled with how it went- there was a fabulous atmosphere and we have had loads of good feedback.

"I think the festival was stepped up massively from the first one last year.

"We wanted to make sure we keep it a family-friendly event as well.

"We also had a fantastic group of volunteers who helped us out too."

The range of stalls and activities at the festival received plaudits from visitors too.

David's fellow co-founder of Strike a Chord and guitarist of Corporal Jones Bevan Thompson also organised the festival.

They also worked with The Friends of Lilford Park CIC to make sure the site was cleaned up the following day.

The self-funded festival is currently exploring ways of attracting sponsorship for next year's event.
