A PARK in Leigh has been recognised.
Pennington Hall Park on St Helens Road has won the prestigious Green Flag Award for its quality.
The international award signifies that the space has high environmental standards, it is beautifully maintained and has a wealth of visitors facilities.
Three other parks in the borough have also picked up the award.
Cllr Joanne Marshall, lead member for Greener Wigan, said: “We know how much quality green spaces matter to residents and visitors, and this award celebrates the dedication that goes into maintaining all these parks to such a high standard.”
“We must also say a huge thank you to our devoted parks Friends Groups and volunteers throughout the borough who help us to maintain our beautiful green spaces as part of The Deal.”
Volunteers and park groups have been praised for their contributions.
