THE best and worst GP practices in the borough have been revealed.

Its highest and lowest ranked surgeries have been named in a new patient satisfaction survey.

The GP Patient Survey rated Dr Seabrook in Wrightington as the top surgery, with 99 per cent of patients describing their experience of it as “good”.

Dr Chan on Church Street in Golborne was joint second with 97 per cent.

Meadowview Surgery on Nelson Street in Atherton followed closely behind in third place with a score of 96 per cent.

Esa Surgery at The Avenue in Leigh was given a score of 95 per cent and Slag Lane Medical Centre in Lowton- which had a 100 per cent score last year- fell slightly to 94 per cent.

Dr Pal, based in Golborne and Ashton, came bottom with 68 per cent.

Collectively, 88 per cent of residents rated the borough’s CCG’s surgeries as good, four per cent higher than the national average.

The England-wide survey provides practice-level data about patient experiences of their GP practices, looking at waiting times, care quality, opening times, making appointments and out of hours services.

A total of 6,402 people completed the survey in the borough, 33 per cent of those who were sent the questionnaire.

Slag Lane Medical Centre and Dr Sivakumar and Partners in Astley were joint top for how helpful their receptionists are after receiving a perfect score of 100 per cent.

Dr Anderson and Dr Ahmed in Boothstown was bottom with 76 per cent.

Astley General Practice, Dr Sivakumar and Partners, Grasmere Surgery in Leigh and Dr N Hatikakoty in Atherton were joint second in being able to get through on the phone with them scoring 97 per cent.

Dr Anderson and Dr Ahmed propped up the table with a rating of 37 per cent.

In providing support for long-term medical conditions, Meadowview Surgery was joint second with 98 per cent.

Dr Pal was joint bottom with 67 per cent.

Dr K Gupta on Henry Street in Leigh shared the top of the charts for having the easiest online services to use with 100 per cent.

Astley General Practice was second with 97 per cent.

Westleigh Medical Practice was bottom in online services with 45 per cent and Intrahealth Leigh Sports Village was second bottom with 61 per cent.
