A MAN in his 70s remains in a "critical" condition after being hit by a motorbike yesterday, Monday.

The incident happened at around 2.20pm on Market Street in Leigh at the junction of Lord Street where the man was involved in a collision with a Honda motorbike.

Paramedics and an air ambulance were called to the scene.

The pedestrian suffered serious head injuries and was taken to hospital where he is still in a "critical" condition.

The motorbike rider, a man in his 50s, suffered minor injuries.

Police are appealing for witnesses of the collision to contact them.

Police Constable Pete Cunningham of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “We are keen to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the collision, particularly if they have dashcam footage or saw the motorcycle prior to the incident.

“The collision happened during daylight in a busy part of the town so we believe there may be several witnesses who can assist us with our enquiries.”
